Hamish
is one of the stars of the Lurcher Link forum. Police in Leeds found a
gang of youths beating him with a hammer. He was in a pts situation and
we agreed to take him in, nurse him back to health and try and rehome
him. The vets had done of wonderful job of stitching him up, so all we
had to do was give him TLC and feed him up. He is such a gentle lad and
so loving that he soon came round. He found himself a lovely family
home in Notts. and took 2 second prizes at the Buxton Show in May 2005
- Best Rescue class and Child Handler class -but his family think he's
No.1 in any class.

Wilma
was found tied to a tree in Leeds when Travellers has moved
on. She was starving and probably would have died if not spotted by a
kind lady who is now a keen member of Lurcher Link. She asked us to
help Wilma, as she couldn't keep her, so we took Wilma in, fed her up,
vax'd, neutered and 'chipped her (even got her cat friendly!) and then
she was spotted on the Homes Needed page by a lovely couple down in
Sussex. She now lives right by the sea and is living a life of luxury!

I'd never
have found Minnie and Felix without Lurcher Link, but their stories are
not really the stuff of high drama. Minnie had a happy beginning
although she was horrified at being taken away from her family, it took
her fully 24 hours to settle in here and wrap us around her elegant
long paw. Felix's beginning was grimmer- being constantly thrown out of
the kennel and having to sleep outside in the run, but now he's the
bold and cheerful fellow that he was always supposed to be.
Minnie and Felix are adored and adorable. And it's still only early
days---a happy beginning with lurchers.

In
September '04 Lurcher Link told us about an ex-working lurcher in need of
a new home. Two days later we met Luka and took him home. That first night
he carried his new bed around in his mouth everywhere- he seemed so
grateful for something soft to lie on. He has really settled into home
life and when he can be bothered to get off the sofa he goes to agility
and loves walks in the countryside. We thought that our family was
complete with Luka but little did we know! We then heard via Lurcher Link
that Luka's litter sister Beama was looking for a new home and in May 2005
she came home with us too. It's so nice to see them reunited, they play
together non-stop and even cuddle up together on the sofa.

Barney came to Lurcher Link with
his friend Betty (named after the Rubbles in the Flintstones) from a
Travellers' site via a Dog Warden. He was very thin and very
dirty....but a little TLC and food soon put that right. He went to a
foster home after he was neutered and from there was rehomed to a
family in London, where he's living a life of ease.

Betty, who arrived with Barney
from a Travellers' site, was very thin indeed when she came to us, but
after some wormer and some decent food, she started to look a bit
better and was adopted by a family with 6 other dogs and 3 cats, up in
the north east.

Tilly came to Lurcher Link after
being left behind when Travellers moved on. She had an old wrist injury
which means she's a bit arthriticky now, but she finally found a home
with people who adore her and she's being spoilt rotten with walks
along the beach most days. She really deserved a lovely new home and we
wish her a long and happy life there.
